    I've been using my 3 wood off the tee for a couple of years now and it has helped my game because the ball is in the fairway and I'll get 240-250 off the tee. Driver would be less yardage and probably off to the right in the rough, or worse.

    Percy Cooper spoke of swinging in a barrel. I now suggest that the so call barrel is the rolling rib cage of our bent chest. So let the good times roll. Let your arms and hands extend as you swing your club back and forth in a rolling barrel. Stay inside your golf posture and never chase after the ball. Your rolling barrel will turn your body approximately as well; as it creates the centrifugal force for your club head to smash directly through your ball. Bringing you up to your glorious finish. Don’t worry: Swing Happy😊Cheers

    Thanks Mike. Question. I easily, on average, hit my 5 wood longer and certainly much straighter than my driver, but I read that it is sometimes advantageous to shorten the shaft on the driver temporarily, say for a year or so, to get that club to perform better. Any thoughts?

    3 wood has more loft, easier to control and hit more solid, and 3 wood heads are noticeably heavier, which makes me think that if you don't swing super fast that extra density and weight in the 3 wood head allows people to hit the ball with more oomph.

    Great video….I upgraded from an original SkyTrak to a Mevo Plus. Having club data (specifically club path, face to target and face to path) is a game changer if you want to dial in your swing. I was quite in to out and correcting it with an equal amount of closing the club face. Not very easy to maintain consistentcy. I now have the numbers more neutral and my shot cone has really tightened up.

    Really think majority of golf instruction should be focused on the club face, at all points of the swing… that’s the part that contacts the golf ball after all !!

    • @MikeSullivangolf
      @MikeSullivangolf 4 месяца назад

      It is definitely important, but not the only thing to focus on! Because club face can be impacted by swing path, grip, angle of attack, etc. It’s all connected.

      @@MikeSullivangolf intresting, another drill that I've had a pga pro show me is to take th club and while standing normally hold it straight out infrot of me, then rotate my torso to the right, then tilt down as if it were at the top of my back swing to get the propper feeling of where the club should be before starting the downward transition.

      @@Violencegod61conventional doesn’t always mean it’s the easiest/correct way. The science makes sense and this is evolution in golf. I’ve heard it’s taken some people 1-2 months to adjust to the lab putter because we’re so used to trying to manage torque in “conventional putters”. Most people won’t use it long enough to adjust until the just let say it doesn’t work and don’t use it anymore. I just got the link and it’s the best I’ve ever rolled a putter (end over end) just have to practice to the work on speed compared to my spider i used before. Didn’t even practice with the putter and hit every line in the 9 holes i played. I usually 3 putt 2-3 times per 9 holes and only did once and it was because of speed control for the first putt and a bad read on the second. Hit my line end over end roll every time. Some people have to adjust stance, shoulders, grip, etc from always using a conventional putter and trying to manage the torque subconsciously and not even realize over time they’ve created compensations. It’s not a magic wand 😂

    Having worked with a coach for five years, an LPGA teaching pro in L.A. who got me down to a solid 9 hcp in tounament play on some fairly tough courses (from an 18) my experience was that I came to realize early on that I couldn’t actually see myself when I practiced, and was not trained in the process of peeling back the onion layers of misinterpretation in a way that was productive. She always saw something in my swing that was different from what I thought I was doing (which was maddening and helpful at the same time). She often used video on an iPad to back up her analysis and further illustrate the point. It was a long process, getting my hcp down and keeping it there but it was so rewarding working with a coach. To this day I can still hear her in my head when I’m practicing, and I appreciate that a lot. So, if you can’t see yourself, and you are not working with a coach who is trained to see what you’re actually doing (as opposed to what you think you’re doing) then yes, you tube videos could take you down an unproductive rabbit hole (prob what Tiger meant). Now days I have a NetReturn/SkyTrak setup on my backyard deck (just like coach Mike’s) alignment sticks on the mat and a mirror directly behind me for immediate feedback. None of which (i can honestly say) is a replacement for working with a qualified coach. Cheers… and really appreciate your content.
